Scary Town

Today when I was in class, me and my groupmates somehow ended up discussing about the security issue in our town here. We had a meeting with the local police which is held yearly not long ago. The aim of the meeting was for the police to inform us that they will be there to help us.
Though a few days after the meeting some juniors were badly beaten up by the local people here and they were seriously injured and were send to the hospital. Rumors have it saying that one of them ended up in the opthamology department after some of the glasses from his/her spectacles ended up in the eye. Some rumors even say that he/she is currently blind.
Furthermore, i heard that one of my friend who were walking in a group just opposite of the university were surrounded by an amount of 30 people and almost got beaten up as well. Though one of them's quick thinking of running to the university to ask for help from the security guards made it possible to get through the surround without being badly injured. From what I heard, only one of them had a light injury on the head.
Though I can't be certain how much information written above is true as normally when rumors are spread they might get worse after being spread. I hope my parents won't be alarmed by this and do not over react on the situation. There are always bad people and good ones in every town. So please do not worry too much.
While on the way back home today, outside my apartment, there were a bunch of kids with their parents playing with the snow and riding on some small sledge off a small hill. The sound of their laughter rang in the air and made me smile a little while thinking of the nice time I used to have as a small kid. Though as we grow, we gain more freedom and start to notice and understand about more things that is going on around us. Though we also start to gain more responsibilities in exchange for the freedom.
That's life I guess. Ain't nothing is free my friend!
