Emo post

Sorry for posting such an emo post, but I really had to find an outlet and so here I am. I have been feeling a little ill since the last few days. Mainly because of a very bad sore throat. I tried to drink lots of water but the condition doesn't seem to be getting better.
I woke up very early this morning(as I slept relatively early the night before) and felt very very terrible. It felt like I didn't want to do anything for the whole day but just lie in bed. Though after some more rest, and when I woke up for breakfast I felt a little better upon hearing some news that made me feel more alived.
Though when I reached the university and the rest of the day (even now) I had the song "Bleeding Love" stuck in my head. Though its not the whole song, the exact verse that keep playing in my head was " But I don't care what they say, I'm in love with you, they try to pull me away, but they don't know the truth, my heart's crippled by the vein that I keep on closing, you cut me open and I, keep bleeding ....." till the end of the chorus. I have no idea why I felt better singing this song nor do I know why I am singing this song(maybe I do know?).
On the way back, I saw an old couple walking slowly enjoying the views hand in hands. That made me remember things. Made me miss my mother, my father, my sister, my dog, my cat. I miss all of you.

New semester

Today was the first day of the semester, the beginning of my 3rd year 1st semester. This semester is the time when we start learning all the clinical stuff. Today, because according to our timetable we were supposed to be having our lecture in the old building. Though, the department has changed its location to the new building and hence we were late for lecture.
When I first saw the new lecture hall in the building, I was astonished as this was the 1st lecture hall in the whole university that looks like those in the movies. I wasn't able to snap any picture of the lecture hall as we were in a rush trying to write the lecture notes.
Speaking of lecture, while listening and writing down the lecture notes, I was very interested as it was now starting to be all the clinical stuff. I really think my choice of studying medical was right. I am really beginning to enjoy the new subjects.

Laughter and Nurses

Today, I was chatting to a friend of mine after coming back from practicals in the hospital.(lately, the teacher in charge has been more and more strict with us hence we're unable to go off early). It's been quite a while since I could sit back and chat so freely with someone. To be able to lie back and chat freely without any acting, that is really nice. The last time I was able to do that was at least a few years back. I am really happy to finally find someone that I am able to talk to.
Not only was it a relief to finally take of the mask we wear everyday but while criticising each other playfully I laughed so much that my stomach ached. Though, it wasn't one very long laugh, it was a combination of a range of laughters. I felt so energized and refreshed after chatting.
Back to practicals, as we thought today would be the last day of work for the nurse that we have been working with in the department, I brought my camera to snap some photo with her.
She was very patient with us, willing to help us, let us try out the medical procedures, slowly trusting our skills in each of the procedures and teaching us stuff that we do not know or understand. She was really very nice. I would really like to thank her for her kindness and patience.

Stuff i did during the internetless period

As I was saying in earlier post, I was rendered without internet for more than a week after I changed my internet provider. So, this post is a summary of the things I did while waiting for my internet provider to fix my cable.
There was a day, I do not clearly remember when I was so bored but didn't want to disturb my housemate Tab which has been allowing me to use her internet. So I decided to go out and buy myself a puzzle to do it to kill sometime. At first, when I was browsing through the limited choice of puzzles in the departmental store, I saw a puzzle that i liked very much. It was a picture of horses running in the wild. As I was born in the year of horse, I think that is where I got my affinity to pictures of horses. Though, it was a puzzle consisting of 3000 pieces, and considering that I have not done any puzzle before, I did not take the risk of not finishing the puzzle. Next, I found another puzzle with a horse in it, this time it consist of 1500 pieces. I was still not very convinced that I will be able to finish it. Finally I settled with a puzzle of a picture of dogs which had 360 pieces.
It took me 2 whole days to complete the puzzle and I was very happy with the satisfaction i got when completing the puzzle.
As I said in earlier post, I was situated in the Urology Department for my practicals and might be transferred after sometime and I was right. After 12 days working in that department, our teacher in charge changed everyone's location of department and I was sent to the Gastro-endocrinology department.
So before I left the department, I decided to take picture with the nurses that helped us through the time while I was in the department. Thankyou!
In the new department, this department consist of patients that are mostly healthy in the sense that they can walk normally, most of the patients here are diabetic. So most of the time, they will be having a lot of intravenous drips/infusion and insulin injections.

Chinese New Year Eve

After so much frustration and disappointment, I finally got back my internet connection. I was so happy that I was skipping around the house when the repairman finally said the connection was fixed and was able to be used.
As it was Chinese New Year Eve, me and my housemates decided to have dinner together and planned to make it somewhat different from a normal decided. After much discussion, we agreed on having steamboat for dinner.
Thus, as planed after classes, we all went separate ways to get all the ingredients. For our soup base, we used chicken soup with some Chinese Herbs and for the main ingredients we had prawns, home-made meatballs,, chicken meat, pork, chinese cabbage, mushroom, squid.
We had quite a lo of fun eating the steamboat and were all very full after sometime. Though there was still quite a lot of food left. So we decided to play a game and the loser will be punished to eat more food. At first the food were just the soup and meat. But as the game went on, we started to add more queer stuff into the "prize" for the one that lost.
After everyone was too disgusted to continue the game, we had dessert, ice-cream cake. Man, it was so nice.

Madness

I have switched to a new internet provider since last Friday and till now I have not used that provider's line to go on to the net. I have been constantly calling them and asking them to fix the line or cable and yes, they did come over to TRY to fix it. But to no extent did any of these fixing helped my cable worked.
Let me give u a overview of what they did.
On Monday, i called them and old them about the cable problem. They said that they will send someone over the next day to fix it. So be it. On Tuesday, that repairman came at around 7 when they said they will come at 5. Never mind then, better late than never rite. After he went through all sorts of check, he said and concluded that the port is overloaded and they need to change a new port.
Since I am living in an apartment and the port is located on the roof and they need the key to get on the roof while the key can only be taken from a certain someone during a short period of time for example 12 till 2pm. They say they will try to get the key and put the portal the next day and would come again around 5pm.
The next day, around 6 they came and guess what? He came in just to tell me that they do not have the key and can't do anything. And next he said goodbye!
The next day i called over and asked with a little anger what is going on and they said that everything will be done on the next day (Friday) and that they couldn't do anything today.
When I asked if the cable would be working or not after installing a new portal they said yes. Then today I called early in the morning to give them some pressure and they ensure me their repairman will come around 5pm to install it.At 5pm when I called over they told me that the people are installing it and asked me to wait for half an hour and the cable would be working. I asked what if it doesn't work. She confidently told me that it will be. Fine, I trusted her. After half an hour I tried to go online but was once finding myself facing the screen full with anger.
I called the company again and ask what was going on and this time I was really mad, all she ask was when are you free tomorrow, we will send a repairman over as we have no idea what is wrong with the cable. I was so angry that I just kept scolding her. But she just repeatedly told me to wait till tomorrow for the repairman to come.
If it was on a normal school day when there is not festival coming soon I would have been more patient but now Chinese New Year Eve is tomorrow night and I still do not have my internet with me which renders me unable to use the web to call back and have a dinner with my family which this year my sister is back from Australia. That is what pisses me the most!!!
I really want to kill now !!!

Practicals

I have not been updating my blog for quite a few days and have not been on the net for quite sometime as well. This is because I and my house mates have decided to change our internet provider and we had a miscommunication with the provider so they only provided us with one line when we needed three. So I am still here waiting for them to come and do the cabling in hope of reconnecting with the world.
On Monday, the road was really slippery as the temperature rose to a little above zero. The roads were all covered with only a thin layer of water over the thick layer of ice making it unbelievably slippery. When i reached the hospital for my practicals, everyone was chatting about how each of them almost fell down on the way to practicals.
Though after sometime, the temperature rose and it snowed heavily. Hence, while going back home after the practicals the roads were very nice to walk on. It was like walking on the sandy beaches as the snow was mixed with the sand that was sprinkled all over the ice earlier to help people get better grips while walking.
This week, I find myself looking forward to the practicals as the nurses have started to trust our skills and is beginning to give us more jobs that are more related with medical procedures. First, they allowed us to see the jabs that they were giving patients, and now, today I gave my first injection to a patient(intramuscular injection). Though, I think it wasn't done very well as normally an intramuscular injection shouldn't bleed too much but after the injection, the patient's area of injection was bleeding more than normal. When the nurse asked her if it was painful she said no. But, I thought I saw her wiping her tears of her eyes. I do not what to think about it. Let's hope that it wasn't too painful for her and what I did didn't give her any trauma. Cheers to the beginning of my medical life.
