So, now I have been doing my practicals for 3 days. Other than the waiting for the nurses to order us to help out part which was plain boring. The part where I actually get to do some work was actually quite fun.
For example yesterday, I went to get new bottles of isotonic solution from the hospital pharmacy in which I saw that the hospital actually produces some of its medicines and isotonic solutions. It was so cool.
Today, when I finally gather my courage to ask the nurse if I could overlook while she was giving patients their daily jabs, I was astonished that she said that it is fine and did not scold me (as most Russians do not like us foreign students to follow them) I got to follow her into the ward and observe her giving an intravascular injection and was lucky enough to see the training doctor giving another patient a drainage of the urethra (I was doing my practicals in the Urology Department)
I can't wait till they allow us to do more medical procedure and less of the stuff like folding bandages and gauze napkins. I really find treating patients a very interesting job.
Also, I am looking forward to Monday night as me and my housemates are changing our internet service to another provider which is cheaper. I am currently paying Rub 380 a month for unlimited access of 1Mbps while the new provider is charging at rub 350 monthly also for unlimited access but at the speed of 2Mbps. Hope everything will be done and I can get faster internet access soon. (not that I really need it though.)

Practicals and A reformatted laptop
As I posted a few days ago, I had my laptop reformatted to clear off all the unused data and programs. I didn't think of upgrading my computer but in the end, with a little push from my friend. My computer is now upgraded into a Windows 7 version.
I used to use Vista on my computer but since it clashes with my university's program I had it downgraded into Windows XP and man, it was bad. The graphics of XP and Vista are so much of a difference that one is unable to take the sudden change.
Though, now that my laptop is running Windows 7, the graphics are so much nicer than when it was in XP and I am very grateful of it.
Today was also my 1st day of the winter practicals. I was sent to the urology department with another fellow group mate of mine. There we sat for an hour before they gave us something to do. That something was not a very tough thing. It was folding the bandages and cotton wools into cotton balls.
Pretty stupid huh ? What I found more interesting was that these jobs that we did were supposed to be written down on a book. I am alright if we are supposed to write down procedures such as giving intramuscular injection or something of that sort but when they told me that what I did today (they called it preparation of bandages and cotton balls) are also to be written down I was really astonished.
To add to my disappointment in range of work I was given, I sat there from 12 till 3 with nothing to do. Just sitting there like a vase. To make matter worse, all my friends had already left their respective departments. I was so disappointed.

Going Away
My computer might be gone for a day or 2 since I am passing my laptop over to my friend to reformat it as there are a lot of problems with it. Hence i might be missing for a day or 2.
Yesterday night, me and my housemates were helping our friend to cook for his open house. We offered to help him cook curry. It was a success, and let me tell u this. The secret to cooking nice curry (or in my POV anything that is taste delicious) is normally to cook it the way like you are not going to eat it. Use lots and lots of oil. We had a lot of fun cooking it. Though in the end we did end up eating the curry.
This morning when I woke up, after I opened my Facebook account, I watched a clip (proposal). I felt very touched and thought the guys actions were very very romantic and i thought so there are guys like this out there, these things don't only happen in the movies. Then I saw another clip which was the song Star from the movie 200 pounds beauty.
Later I listened to some songs from movies I saw during my childhood, and I did, one was listening to Climb Every Mountain from the Sound of Music and If We Hold on Together from the movie The Land Before Time. (if you want to listen to the clips i listened to just go to my wall on Facebook)

Post exam Feast
After an exam, a feast is to be called for. Hence, during the period of exam when I had some free time, taking a rest of the studying I have been doing, I would think of the things that I can do when the exams are over.
And in between those thoughts, I found something interesting to cook for the post exam dinner. Have a look at the preparation and its product. You tell me what have I cooked. Please bear in mind that all these food were prepared and cooked by me, of course I had help with the preparation but it was definitely homemade.

Exams Are Over
I have disappeared for quite sometime as I have been hiding in my room preparing for my final exams which ended today. For the past week, well I can say I have been studying very hard for the exam. An average of 5-6 hours a day which I have no past cases of such.
On one hand, I am happy that all these studying is currently finished for the time being and I can have my well earned rest. But on the other hand, the fact that I have finish my 2nd year 2nd semester(honeymoon period) and have pass on to the 3rd year(rated as toughest period of whole course) is kind of giving me an headache and is something that I do not look forward to.
Another thing, although my results today was 5 (Russian marking standard which is equivalent to an A) I wasn't really pleased with the way I got the marks. This result was practically begged from my teacher by me. Why ?
Let me explain, the final mark for this subject is 30% from class marks, 30% from final computer test and 40% from the final oral test. I knew from the start that class marks will influence the end result but never did I care to mantain my results and to make matter worse I normally do not study for the classes.
Hence my class marks were only at the passing range. When the time came, my teacher added all the marks together and even though I had excellent marks from the final computer and oral tests, it wasn't enough to give me 5 for the total marks. So in the end, I was partially arguing and begging my professor to give me a 5 for the results.
After a lot of discussion with the other teacher and a call to the dean office, they finally allowed me to have the mark.
Lesson learned, all classes are equally important, never underestimate the importance of studying for the usual classes.

Studyin
It has been quite a while since i last updated the blog. This is mainly because its now my exam week and I have nothing to do except for staying at home and study for the exams. Hence there weren't any interesting things that happened.
The reason I wrote this blog is because I am a little fed up with all the studying i have been doing. I am currently studying for my last final exams which is Biochemistry.
Thanks to all the laziness I had for the past 1 year, I have no knowledge whatsoever of biochemistry which is why I am now struggling to cram all the information into my small brain which we only use less than 10 percent.
So be it then, I am off to continue my hard effort of packing all the information into temporary synapses in my brain as to store the information(sorry, I am referring to physiology of the brain and how we use it)
I hope the next time I upload will be the time I am free of this nightmare and have good news to share.

Happy Belated New Year
Sorry for not writing in such a long time ... I wanted to go online on the 1st but since i forgot to pay the internet fee, they blocked the access and i could only pay on the 4th as they started working only from that time onward.
I won't be saying much on this blog as there are too many things to write. In short, I had a great time on the 31st night partying with the volleyball family and had fun during my housewarming party on the 2nd.
I will be posting some of the pictures i took and some of them can be found on facebook post by my friends. There are also some videos that i am in if i am not wrong
