I have been back from the Italy trip for quite some time. I will post how it was in some other post later when I get all the photos from my friend's computer. Long story short, it was one hell of a trip , liked it, loved it, and wouldn't mind going again.
This time, I am posting to talk about my 1st day in my ambulance practicals, which I should have started since 1st of February, but due to the fact I was in Italy then n was sick (still am but getting better) hence today was my 1st day.
I went to the central station with my friend at around 9am. We were wandering around the building looking for people who looked like doctors to ask if we may follow them. At the end, I came up with a conclusion that, the doctors most oftenly are those who doesn't seem like one, and those who dresses accordingly are usually the nurses.
I went up to a nurse and stupidly asked may I join her team, she then pointed me towards the doctor behind her and told me to ask him.( This was my 5th try if I am not wrong)
Anyway, I got his permission to tag along and he told me he was a pediatric unit - the unit teacher ask us not to follow as most oftenly parents do not allow students to tend to their children moreover we were foreigners.
Anyway, I had to wait till around 11am before we left the central, Man was I excited.
We first stop at their station and then headed off for the 1st call, the child spilled hot water when she over turned the bowl and had some blisters. Here, the mother was kind enough to smile and let me close to the child. Second case was a child with fever, quite high, though till not i am not sure if it is a male or female. I think its most likely a male. In this situation, the mother disallowed me from entering while the doctor and nurse defended me. Though at last I had to wait outside the corridor and not be in the room where the baby is being treated.
Last case was a child that hurt herself after falling off from something in the bathroom. She had a wound on her head which I thought was quite bad. She and her mother sat on the ambulance and was sent to the children hospital located near my apartment.
While going out, the doctor asked me where do I live and I said here. Then he said you may go. Thus ending my day.
All in all, it was really fun though these events only lasted a mere 2 hours.
